Senior Helpers
Senior Helpers, LLC provides professional caregivers to senior citizens who wish to stay in their homes as opposed to going to a nursing home or assisted living facility. In other words, we help the elderly to enjoy a higher quality of life by allowing them to live at home - where they want to be.
More than a companion care company, Senior Helpers provides full in home personal and companion care to seniors, including help with daily tasks such as light housework, meal preparation, errands, transportation, medicine reminders, meal planning, and Alzheimer's care. Offering a continuum of care (beyond basic companionship) puts Senior Helpers at the forefront of the industry and gives us a strategic advantage in the marketplace.
Business Quantifiers: Currently, nearly 20% of seniors have significant long-term care needs. Studies also indicate that by 2020, the number of senior households is expected to grow by nearly 53%, with more than 80% of seniors expected to still be homeowners. Their in-home needs will grow, as well, with the number of seniors with disabilities expected to continually increase. A US government commission recently concluded that "the need for Home- and Community-Based Services will grow substantially owing to the desire for seniors to age in place."
Who We Serve
During the next 20 years, an estimated 15 million Americans over 65 will be living alone. Twenty percent of them will face some difficulty performing the activities of daily living. Nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other institutionalized facilities will continue to play a vital role, but the majority of people prefer to stay in their homes as long as possible.
Traditional Caregiving
The most recent National Long Term Care Survey indicates over seven million people are informal or "family caregivers" who help spouses, adult children, other relatives or friends - the desparately need outside assistance. These caregivers have traditionally provided long-term care for older people, but the degree of their involvement has changed due to geographic separation, more women in the workforce, and other societal changes. Two-thirds of caregivers report conflicts between work and caregiving, thus requiring them to re-arrange their work schedules, work fewer hours, and/or take unpaid leave of absences.
